Rhetorical Situation for Assignment 1

My purpose for this assignment is to help high school students who may be thinking about a career in the education program (specifically the english department) get a better understanding of how writing is used in this field. Also I would like to get a better understanding myself. My audience, as mentioned above, is any incoming college students or someone with an undecided major. My media will be all written communication. The specific genre of my paper will be an informational report. My stance will be something along the lines of the fact that writing is a huge part of my major and my career path, but it also more broad than other forms of writing used in other majors or careers. There is more freedom to express oneself and less guidelines/restrictions.
