I wanted my topic to be somewhat about
my chosen career, education. And then during class the Ipad example was brought
up and I decided to run with it since the school next time mine tried it my
senior year. I was very interested in the topic. Most of the revisions I made
from the first draft to the final draft were forming better transitions and proper
in text citations. I also had to remove some information that was not relevant
to the paragraph I placed it in. Then I had to decide if that information could
fit somewhere else, or if it was not important enough to stay in the essay.
Once again I faced challenges
finding academic sources considering the specific guidelines. In the past my
research paper just had to have credible sources, not all academic. I felt like
I had to build my opinion around the sources I could find since they had to be
academic. It is much easier to support an opinion with articles and such. But
in the end I found a way to make it work.
From the process of writing this
paper I learned how to make each specific paragraph have a point, and then
stick to that point in particular. I also learned how to form an educated opinion
based on multiple sources. Another thing I learned was how to respectfully
disagree with another opinion without fully discrediting that opinion.
I found the second major assignment
much more enjoyable to write than the first, because there was more room for
opinion and not just presenting facts. The first major assignment was
essentially just an assortment of related facts to prove some kind of point. But
the facts did not need explaining or reasoning. They were just simply there. Whereas
in the second assignment facts were given, but in turn explained. They were
also agreed with or disagreed with, along with reasons by the writer regarding
why he or she did or did not agree with the given source. As stated above I found
the second assignment much more enjoyable to wirite, and the sources were much
more enjoyable to read.
